Service is the rent we pay for living.
It is the very purpose of life and not something you do in your spare time.

Is Community Engagement part of your company’s DNA?

To paraphrase Marian Wright Edelman, Philanthropy is the dues we pay as members of the human race. However, we often relegate volunteering and philanthropy to our spare time. These dues are often on a sliding, pay-what-you-can scale and it takes many forms. We volunteer on the weekends. We write checks at the end of the year. We take "voluntourism" vacations. We use our personal resources for our dues, or we simply assume our taxes cover these social needs.

As many nonprofits have learned over the years, government resources are getting scarce and personal, foundation, and corporate requests continue to be on the rise. Often, it’s the “usual suspects” who get asked for donations – the bigger the company the bigger the check. If you’re not one of those companies we used to call “big mules”, you’re probably thinking “we don’t have a Foundation, we can’t write $10,000/$50,000/$100,000 checks”.

The majority of companies committed to community engagement – or Corporate Social Responsibility – aren’t necessarily writing checks with that many zeroes either. And even those that are also find value in a wide variety of community engagement opportunities.

Talk with us today about how your company can maximize its community engagement potential.
